Edith Moseley

Painting brings Edith Moseley a great sense of peace and calm, and she desires to elicit that same sense to others through her work. She often uses the view of a cityscape or beach from across an expanse of water in her paintings. Those elements - water, beach, and cityscape - were a major influence in her life growing up in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Her use of warm colors and soft lines reflect the beauty of nature found throughout life in Brazil and the joy of life that Brazilians hold dear - qualities that she has also found living in New Orleans. She came to New Orleans in 1984 and has called it her home ever since. This September, Edith will be one of the New Orleans Museum of Art recipients of the Love Award. This prestigious award is given annually to local artists at the New Orleans Museum of Art's Love in the Garden Event.
